Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about Brick Signals โ€” the investment dashboard, watchlist, portfolio tracker, and deals page.

๐Ÿš€ Getting Started
What is Brick Signals? โ–ผ

Brick Signals is a data-driven investment tool for sealed LEGO sets. It tracks 2,100+ sets across 45+ themes, providing retirement countdowns, real-time market pricing from eBay and Amazon, composite investment signals, and portfolio tracking โ€” everything you need to make informed buy/hold/sell decisions.

How do I access the dashboard? โ–ผ

Brick Signals is part of the Collector Edge membership ($29.99/month). After joining via Whop, sign in with your email and you'll have full access to the dashboard, watchlist, portfolio, and deals page.

How often is the data updated? โ–ผ

4ร— daily โ€” eBay market prices and Amazon pricing refresh at 00:00, 06:00, 12:00, and 18:00 UTC (10am, 4pm, 10pm, and 4am AEST).

A full pipeline (data refresh, pricing, signal recalculation) runs daily at 03:00 UTC (1pm AEST).

๐Ÿ“Š Investment Signals
What do the signal ratings mean? โ–ผ

Every set gets a composite score from 0โ€“100, which maps to one of five signal levels:

Strong Buy (75+) โ€” High conviction. Near retirement, strong category, well-priced.
Accumulate (50โ€“74) โ€” Good fundamentals. Build a position over time.
Hold (35โ€“49) โ€” Decent set. Hold if you own it, don't rush to buy.
Watch (20โ€“34) โ€” Weak signal. Monitor for improvements.
Avoid (<20) โ€” Poor investment profile. Don't buy to hold.
What does "Emerging" mean? โ–ผ

Sets flagged as Emerging (shown with a green sparkle badge โœจ) are the first set released in a new subtheme, or represent a notable IP first. These sets often carry collectible premiums because they mark the start of a new product line โ€” think the first ever LEGO Pokรฉmon set or the first D&D collaboration.

๐Ÿ”ด Retirement Radar
What do the retirement tags mean? โ–ผ

Retiring Soon โ€” Confirmed retirement within 6 months. This is your buy window.

Retirement Watch โ€” Set to retire within 6โ€“12 months. Start researching and building a position.

Mid-Life โ€” More than 12 months from retirement. Monitor but no urgency.

New Release โ€” Released within the last 6 months. Usually not the right time to invest (prices often drop post-launch).

Recently Retired โ€” Already retired. Secondary market pricing only.

Where does the retirement date come from? โ–ผ

Retirement dates are sourced from a combination of official announcements, retailer intel, and historical pattern analysis. Dates marked "Confirmed" have official or strong retailer sourcing. Dates marked "Estimated" are based on typical lifecycle patterns for that theme.

๐Ÿ’ฐ Market Pricing
How are eBay prices calculated? โ–ผ

We query eBay Australia's Browse API for each set, filtering to Buy It Now + Auction listings in New condition. Titles must contain the set number and pass an exclusion filter (we reject minifigures, instructions, parts, and accessories).

The displayed price is the median of validated listings โ€” a more reliable measure than the average, which gets skewed by outlier prices. We also apply a price floor (50% of RRP) to catch any accessories that slip through the title filter.

What does the liquidity score mean? โ–ผ

Liquidity shows how many validated eBay AU listings exist for each set right now:

High (50+) โ€” Easy to buy or sell. Competitive market.

Medium (20โ€“49) โ€” Healthy market. Reasonable spread.

Low (5โ€“19) โ€” Thin market. Prices may vary. Selling could take time.

Very Thin (<5) โ€” Almost no listings. Illiquid โ€” hard to price, harder to sell quickly.

Why do some sets show Amazon prices below eBay? โ–ผ

Amazon AU often sells sets below RRP, especially during sales or when reducing inventory near retirement. eBay prices reflect the secondary/collector market. When Amazon is cheaper, it's usually a buying opportunity โ€” you're getting the set below what collectors are paying. The dashboard highlights these gaps so you can act on them.

What currencies are supported? โ–ผ

Brick Signals has two regional dashboards. The AU Dashboard shows all prices in Australian Dollars with eBay AU and Amazon AU market data. The US Dashboard shows prices in US Dollars with eBay US and Amazon US data. Each dashboard uses real local market pricing โ€” not currency conversions. The public Deals page and Collection Calculator also have AU/US toggles.

๐Ÿ”” Watchlist & Alerts
How do I add sets to my watchlist? โ–ผ

Click the โ˜† star icon on any set row in the dashboard. It turns gold โ˜… when added. Your watchlist is accessible from the star button in the header โ€” it opens a slide-out drawer showing all your watched sets with current pricing, signals, and images.

How do price drop alerts work? โ–ผ

In the watchlist drawer, each set has an "Alert when X% below RRP" input. Set your target discount (e.g., 20%) and save. We check Amazon AU pricing against your threshold every Monday and Thursday at 5pm AEST.

When a watched set's Amazon price drops below your threshold, you'll receive an email with the set details, current price, discount percentage, and a direct Amazon buy link. There's a 7-day cooldown per set to prevent repeat alerts.

๐Ÿ“‹ Portfolio Tracker
How does the portfolio tracker work? โ–ผ

The portfolio page shows your total investment, current market value, and unrealised profit/loss across all positions. For each set you add:

Buy Price โ€” What you paid per unit

Quantity โ€” How many you hold

Current Value โ€” The lower of Amazon AU and eBay AU median price (conservative valuation)

P&L โ€” (Current Value ร— Qty) minus (Buy Price ร— Qty), with percentage

Values update automatically 4ร— daily with each price refresh.

How do I add sets to my portfolio? โ–ผ

Quick add from dashboard: Click the โž• button on any set row. This adds the set number instantly โ€” you can fill in buy price and details later on the portfolio page.

Full add from portfolio page: Use the form at the top to enter set number, buy price, quantity, buy date, and notes. The set number field has autocomplete from all tracked sets.

Can I track the same set multiple times? โ–ผ

Each set appears once in your portfolio. If you buy more units, update the quantity field. If you bought at different prices, use the weighted average as your buy price, or use the notes field to record the breakdown (e.g., "2 @ A$300, 1 @ A$280").

๐Ÿท๏ธ Deals
What is the Deals page? โ–ผ

The Deals page has two sections:

Featured Deals โ€” Hand-picked sets available for direct purchase from the Collector Edge team. These are from our own inventory, priced competitively, and come with guaranteed authenticity.

Amazon Deals โ€” An auto-curated list of every tracked set currently trading 20% or more below RRP on Amazon AU. Updated 4ร— daily. Each listing shows the discount %, savings amount, and a direct buy link.

Are the Amazon deals affiliate links? โ–ผ

Yes โ€” Amazon and eBay links on the dashboard are affiliate links. If you purchase through them, Collector Edge earns a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps fund the platform and data infrastructure. Prices shown are the actual Amazon/eBay prices โ€” they are not inflated.

โ„น๏ธ General
Is this financial advice? โ–ผ

No. Brick Signals is an investment research tool, not financial advice. The signals, scores, and editorial picks are based on data analysis and algorithmic modelling โ€” they represent our assessment of investment potential, not guarantees of returns. Always do your own research and invest within your means.

Which regions are supported? โ–ผ

Market pricing is sourced from eBay and Amazon in both AU and US markets. The AU dashboard shows AUD pricing from eBay AU and Amazon AU. The US dashboard shows USD pricing from eBay US and Amazon US. Each uses real local market data โ€” not currency conversions.

How do I cancel my membership? โ–ผ

Your membership is managed through Whop. You can cancel anytime from your Whop dashboard โ€” there are no lock-in contracts. After cancellation, you retain access until the end of your current billing period.
